Operating Principles of a Microstep Stepper Motor Driver


Microstepping is a way to make small steps even smaller in a stepper motor. The smaller the step, the higher the resolution and the better the vibration characteristics. In microstepping, a phase is not fully on or fully off. It is partially on. Sine waves are applied to both phase A and phase B, 90° apart (0.72° in a 5-phase stepper motor).
