RKII AC Stepper Motor High Flow Rate Pumping and Flow Adjustment

Measures to Reduce Pump Drive Noise

Issue: Need for Reducing Motor Drive Noise

A piece of equipment that uses a stepper motor to exhaust a constant and accurate amount of liquid. (Uses an in-house driver for motor control)

The noise a piece of equipment using a stepper motor to exhaust a constant and accurate amount of liquid can be disruptive.

Challenge:

  • The noise of the equipment is a disturbance in a quiet environment
  • Anti-vibration rubber and dampers must be provided to reduce vibration that causes noise

Solution: Stepper Motor PKP Series/CVD Series Low Vibration and Low Noise With a Specially Designed Driver

Stepper Motor PKP Series/CVD Series Low Vibration and Low Noise With a Specially Designed Driver

The Stepper Motor PKP Series/CVD Series use drivers that match the characteristics of the motor. Achieves low vibration, which is difficult to adjust for in-house drivers, without using anti-vibration rubber or dampers, thus contributing to noise reduction.

Specific Application Examples

Application Example

Further Pursuit of Low Vibration and Noise Reduction by Mastering Microstep Drive

Microstep drive over the full speed range ensures low vibration in any speed range. In addition, the specially designed driver performs vibration suppression control optimized for the motor characteristics, so the drive noise is much quieter than that of a 2-phase stepper motor driven by an in-house driver.

The 5-phase stepper motor PKP Series/CVD Series has even better vibration characteristics. Ideal for applications where noise reduction is a must.

A technical report has been issued on the lowered vibration of the CVD Series. To learn more about driver control and circuit technology, refer to the Technical Report Overcoming Rotation Vibration, CVD Series 2-Phase Bipolar Stepper Motor Driver.

Omits Anti-Vibration Rubber and Dampers, and Converts to Additional Functions such as Encoders

In the PKP Series/CVD Series, the motor itself offers noise reduction, and so there is no need for anti-vibration rubber, dampers, or other vibration measures. New additional functions can be considered, such as installing an encoder for position control in the space where parts are omitted.

Advantages

• Low vibration and noise reduction depending on the parts

• Low vibration and low noise of the motor itself
• Feedback of current position

Using a motor with an encoder enables operations such as monitoring the present position and detecting position errors.
