PKP Series 2-Phase Bipolar Stepper Motors 13 mm (0.51 in.)

PKP Series 2-Phase Bipolar Stepper Motors 13 mm (0.51 in.)

The motor with an encoder has been added to our smallest PKP Series stepper motors with a frame size of 13 mm. It enables positioning operation and position monitoring in limited spaces.

The PKP Series 2-Phase Bipolar Stepper Motors offer high torque in a small, compact package with excellent performance and value. In addition to high torque, the PKP Series provides a wide range of electrical specifications, frame sizes, encoder options, and electromagnetic brake options to help customers find the right stepper motor solution.

Encoder Main Specifications

It is equipped with a magnetic encoder that is resistant to dust, condensation, and vibration. Despite its extremely compact size with a frame size of only 13 mm, it enables high accuracy positioning and the detection of position data via the encoder.

Motor Position Detection is Possible

By comparing the command position with the feedback position, it is possible to detect abnormalities such as loss of synchronization. Because the detection accuracy (±0.36°) is guaranteed, it can be used safely for position detection purposes.

Angular Accuracy

This is the calculation error between the actual rotation angle and the angle output from the encoder.

Return-to-Home is Possible Without Adjusting the Sensor’s Position

The step "0" position, encoder, and Z-phase signal position of the motor are adjusted by Oriental Motor and shipped assembled. It can be used as a home sensor (a sensor mounted on the motor shaft that detects the home position within a single rotation).

This makes it easier to use the Z-phase output signal and TIM output signal* together to improve the repeatability of the return-to-home function.

*The signal output from the driver for each step "0" position (stable point). This signal outputs every 7.2° rotations of the motor output shaft from the home.

When the Timing of Z-phase Output is Not Fixed

When the Timing of Z-phase Output is Fixed New Encoder (Magnetic type)

Since the output timing of the Z-phase signal is not fixed, it is difficult to use it as a substitute for the home sensor, and it is also difficult to use it together with the TIM signal.

It outputs Z-phase signals with a width of ±3.6° centered on the step "0" position (stable point).

Examples of Use Index Table
By using this in place of home sensors such as photomicro sensors, you can achieve highly repeatable return-to-home.

When Not Using a Motor With Encoder

When Using a Motor With Encoder

The sensor position must be adjusted so that the external sensor signal and the TIM signal are output simultaneously.

Z signal and the TIM signal have been adjusted to be output simultaneously

The Z signal and the TIM signal have been adjusted to be output simultaneously.

Improved repeatability ensures more precise positioning operation of test tubes, preventing issues such as missed grips or collisions when a robotic hand grasps them.

High Accuracy

Due to non-backlash, the output shaft moves and stops with very high accuracy relative to the motor command position. It is suitable for applications and mechanisms that require precise positioning and stopping at specific distances or locations, such as in the medical and semiconductor industries.
