Oriental Motor Expands αSTEP AZ Series with Compact 28 mm Motors Featuring Electromagnetic Brakes

New models provide load holding and battery-free absolute position monitoring for space-constrained equipment.

September 17, 2026 – Oriental Motor U.S.A. Corp. is pleased to announce an expansion of its αSTEP AZ Series with new 28 mm frame size motors equipped with electromagnetic brakes.

The compact AZME24MK and AZME26MK models combine load-holding capability with battery-free absolute position monitoring. Their small, lightweight design makes them ideal for equipment with limited installation space, particularly applications where a workpiece must be prevented from falling or an axis must be held in position when power is turned off.

During a power outage or other unexpected loss of power, the electromagnetic brake holds the load in position to help prevent unintended movement. This makes the new models well suited for vertical axes and other applications where maintaining the load position is essential.
